Falcon Tales

The PTSA invites each Folwell student to submit a piece of creative writing for Falcon Tales, our twentieth annual prose and poetry collection. The goal of this project is to showcase our students’ creative writing and to motivate students to write and to read. Each student and teacher will receive a bound copy of Falcon Tales at the end of the school year.

Each student may submit one piece of original writing with a limit of 300 words.

Students may choose their best creative writing work they have done in class this year, or they may write something entirely new.

Writing submissions and signed submission forms are due Wednesday, April 10th.

Falcon Tales also provides students the opportunity to showcase their illustrative talents. Illustrations should be done during free time in the classroom or at home. If you are interested in submitting an illustration to Falcon Tales, please
follow these guidelines:

  • Illustrations must be done in black marker on white paper that is 8 ½” by 11”.
  • Please erase all pencil marks!
  • Please put your name, grade, and teacher’s name on the back of the illustration.
  • You may submit more than one illustration.
  • Illustrations should be turned in to your teacher by Wednesday, April 10th.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to use all of the illustrations. Illustrations will be selected based on relevancy to stories, following directions, and/or size availability.

Spring Break

It may be difficult to believe considering the snow that is covering everything outside, but spring break is right around the corner.  There will be no school from March 29th through April 7th.  Teachers will be completing report cards on Friday, March 29th, and they will be sent home shortly after.  April 8th marks the start of quarter 4!

FREE Books!

This spring, We Give Books, LeapFrog, and readers across the United States are teaming up to read digital books and donate 150,000 printed LeapFrog books to public elementary schools across the country.
Starting March 19, 2013 and continuing through April 5, when you read online at WE GIVE BOOKS, you’ll have the chance to send a new book directly to a school you choose, just by reading from our free online library. We Give Books is available year round, but this is your one opportunity to give books directly to your school, thanks to LeapFrog.
