Got Food?

Folwell Elementary will once again be sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Channel One Food Shelf and Food Bank.  Folwell students and their families have been able to raise in excess of 8,000 pounds of food in recent years, so we are definitely looking to add to our impressive yearly totals with this year's food drive!

Food drives are an excellent way to educate others about hunger in our community.  Almost half of the people who benefit from the food supplied by the food shelf are children, and usage of the food shelf in Olmsted County has grown 100% in the last 10 years alone!

Folwell’s food drive will be the week of March 21-25, 2016.
Donations are especially needed in the following categories:

-Rice and Pasta     -Baking Needs     -Canned or Boxed Main Dishes
-Peanut Butter       -Canned Soup      -Juice
-Canned Fruit        -Canned Meat       -Breakfast Items
Each classroom has a goal of 20 items per day to reach our school goal of
1,600 total items!
Students are asked to bring donations to their classroom each morning where they will be collected and counted by Student Council members.   If you have any questions about this year’s food drive, please contact Sarah Nelson, Student Council advisor, at sanelson@rochester.k12.mn.us.

Please give what you are able during the Minnesota Foodshare March Campaign.  Your generosity will help end hunger in our community!

5th Grade Wins!

Last week our Folwell fifth graders competed with over 25 Folwell staff members in a game of basketball.  The fifth graders were able to squeak out a 76-74 victory in a high scoring, high spirited spectacle.  Please take the time to read a note written by one of the fifth graders that played in the game.

Thank you for attending our basketball game. We appreciate your being there to support us. All  funds of the game will go toward our trip to Eagle Bluff, so thank you for donating.
Thanks again for coming to the game and donating money for Eagle Bluff. We can't thank you enough!

Very Sincerely,
Folwell Fifth Graders
