Dear Folwell Families,
I am writing to provide an update on previous emails I sent you
regarding water issues at Folwell Elementary.
We have been working with the
District’s Health and Safety and Operations Departments to remediate and solve
the water issue at Folwell.
Repairs and updates within the
building are nearing completion.
Everything is looking great – clean, safe and healthy to maximize
student learning opportunities!
The IEA (Institute for Environmental Assessment) continues to
monitor the air quality in our building to ensure that our learning spaces are
safe.
There will also be some additional projects and enhancements outside
of our building. Phase two is set
to begin the week of August 21. Trees, shrubbery and electrical boxes
will be removed along the north end of the building, on 6th Street and 15th
Avenue. There will be digging on the northwest corner of the building to
improve and replace drain tile. Pipes will be installed to improve water
flow. The lawn and landscaping will be graded to improve drainage and
direct it away from the building. An application will be applied to the outside
of the building to prevent seepage.
We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.
Please be sure to subscribe to the Folwell blog (www.folwell.info) by entering your email address. This is how updates will
be provided in the future and throughout the upcoming school year.
