Folwell Elementary Vision and Hearing Screening

The Rochester Public School's Licensed School Nurses will be starting district-wide vision and hearing screenings.  Screenings at Folwell Elementary will be done on Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Hearing screenings will be done on:

  • All 1st graders and those students in grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th who do not have a screening on file with Rochester Public Schools or who have failed their previous screening.
  • Kindergarten students will be screened, if they failed their preschool screening.
  • Students may also self-refer or be referred by the parent/guardian, or by staff members to rule out a hearing or vision concern.

Vision screenings will be done on:

  • All 1st and 3rd graders and those students in grades 2nd, 4th and 5th who do not have a screening on file with Rochester Public Schools or who have failed their previous screening.
  • Kindergarten students will be screened, if they failed their preschool screening.
  • Students may also self-refer or be referred by the parent/guardian, or by staff members to rule out a hearing or vision concern.

Vision and hearing are critical to learning and the RPS health staff strongly encourages that students be screened.

If you wish to decline either of the screenings, please contact Nurse Kelly at  keleadens@rochester.k12.mn.us or call your child’s building by Tuesday, October 30, 2018.  Please indicate your child’s name, grade and teacher, along with which screening you do not want us to do.

If your child is screened, you will only be contacted, if we believe your child may need a professional evaluation.

ISO Clothes for the Health Office

Folwell families,

Are you doing a little fall cleaning?  Have your children outgrown their clothes from last year and you aren’t sure what to do with them?  The Folwell Health Office can help J

We are in need of clothes to help when kids get wet outside, have accidents, clothes get ripped, etc.  Sweatpants and leggings are most in need, particularly in the smaller sizes, but anything would be greatly appreciated.  If you have anything, you can drop off at the front desk or in the health office before or after school or during school hours.

Thank you!
