Folwell Family Updates

Hello, Folwell Families!

Thank you for reaching out with questions, concerns and support as we prepare for the start of the school year.  I am going to share some updated information with you, and am going to continue to ask for grace as many details are still being finalized!  Thank you for all that you do to support Folwell Elementary.  As always, an email (wemoritz@rochester.k12.mn.us) or a phone call (328-3224) are welcomed.

A/B Groups

The A/1 (Monday/Tuesday) and B/2 (Thursday/Friday) groups will hopefully be finalized by Friday (August 21).  I know that there are child care plans that need to be made by families based on the groupings.  I have done my best to honor any special circumstances that I have received.  If I can get this information to you before Friday, I will.

Classroom teachers will be shared at the beginning of the week of Monday, August 24, on Skyward.

Distance Learning Teachers

For those students that have selected the distance learning option, we are finalizing the teachers for those students.  As Superintendent Munoz stated in his Return to School learning plan that was shared with families, students will have a certified teacher, and it may or may not be a Folwell teacher.  Details around Meet the Teacher for distance learning families have not been finalized.

Family Connections/Meet the Teacher/Step Into Learning

As a Folwell staff, we are finalizing plans that will have our students and families connecting with their teachers to start the year.  We have social distancing/safety on the front of our minds in this decision, thinking of the number of people that could be coming into the building at one time.  We hope to this plan finalized by Monday (August 24)

What if I or my child is experiencing COVID symptoms?

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has provided a Decision Tree for individuals with COVID-19 Symptoms in Youth, Student, and Child Care Programs (updated 8.6.20). To keep students and staff safe and healthy, Rochester Public Schools will follow this guide to determine the length of time students will need to remain away from school when exposed or exhibiting symptoms. This exclusion guidance is designed specifically for schools and child care programs by MDH, therefore, these guidelines may differ from businesses or employers.

The Rochester Public Schools website provides the Decision Tree and Home Screener

Thank you all for your support.  We are Folwell and "Together We Will!"
