It's Time to Give Your Books a New Home!

It’s a tradition to send our 5th grade students on a special class trip at the end of their Folwell years. This year, they will be going to Eagle Bluff Learning Center for an overnight adventure.
In order to raise money, offset the cost of the trip, and make it possible for all 5th graders to participate, two traditional fundraisers will take place the first week of March:  the Used Book Sale and a Basketball Game featuring fifth-grade students vs. teachers. We hope you will join us for these events that are fun for the entire Folwell community!

The 5th graders are collecting donations of gently-used books for all ages, as well as family DVDs (G or PG), and children’s story and music CDs, to prepare for the sale. Check your shelves and clear the clutter!
Books/DVDs can be dropped off by the Office foyer from February 4th  – 25th in boxes waiting for your contribution.

The donated books/CDs/DVDs will be sold at the annual Folwell Used Book Sale during week of March 2nd-6th. Folwell students and their families will have opportunities to purchase the used books before and after school (8:45am – 9:15am and 3:3

0pm – 4:00pm) and during lunch (12:00pm – 1:00pm) Monday 2nd – Thursday 5th. Books will also be on sale during the Wellness Night February 27th, at the 5th grade fundraising basketball game on Thursday March 5th , and for clearance prices prior to school Friday March 6th. We will sell most items for $1, with specialty items marked slightly higher.

We hope to raise more than $800 through the used book sale and are grateful for your donations!

Folwell's Fantastic Paraprofessionals!

Folwell is so fortunate to have outstanding paraprofessionals making a difference in the lives of students and staff every day. They are special people who do so much work behind the scenes for Folwell and embody the nurturing and caring neighborhood feeling exemplified in our school. If you are at Folwell and get a chance to see our paras then make sure to share a little gratitude for their efforts. They are certainly deserving of this praise.

Wellness Night

The first Folwell Wellness night will be held, Friday, Feb 27th. This is a great chance to break that cabin fever, get out of the house & have some fun! Sarah Pacchetti, Folwell mom and owner of Studio on Third, will be leading Zumba, Piloxing and Barre in the gym from 6:30 to 8 pm for one in a series of wellness nights we'll offer this year. This is for both children and adults.

Follow the link if interested in more detailed descriptions about these activities.

School Carnival

We need your help to make the Folwell Carnival successful!  We are looking for people to solicit businesses for silent auction donations. These would only be places that you normally visit anyway like the hair salon, places that you take the kids for fun (Bounce World, YMCA, bowling etc), kids activity places (dance classes, JETS, tennis, martial arts etc) and places where you dine out. Please consider helping out, we have form letters you can use & many of these places have participated for years & are happy to support our school community!  Many hands make light work!

If you are interested in helping, please contact Betty Kennel at

Folwell Science Fair

Please send in your registration forms for the Folwell Science Fair if your student will be participating. The due date for registration forms is Feb 19th & the Science Fair is Feb. 26th.

Mariam Shafiq is looking for parents/grandparents who would be interested in being reviewers for the students during the Science Fair on the 26th between 8:45-12. You may participate for all or part of the time - question forms provided, we focus on the positive with these reviews. Also, if there is anyone who could give 30 minutes of their time to help set up for the Science Fair the night before (around 6-7pm) we are looking for 5-10 people.

It goes very quickly when there's a little manpower. :) Please contact Marie Lindloff/Vol Coord for more info or to indicate your interest. or 507-216-5315.
