Hello Folwell Families!
We have some really fun activities coming up
in the next few weeks! Please consider volunteering your time to make these
events great for our kids!
Kids VOTE 11/4
Folwell School has partnered with
Minnesota Civic Youth organization to provide our students the opportunity to
‘vote’ in the Kids Voting program. Official Student polling spots will be
set up at Folwell School. These polling spots will include voting booths,
a ballot box, “I Voted” stickers, and more! We will be able to see our
Student results, as they compare to other Kids Voting sites across the nation,
as well as how they compare to the general election this fall. We will
only be voting on President and Vice President.
We need parent volunteers to fill 2
hour shifts to help with the voting process. Volunteers will help guide
students through filling out the ballot in the "booth" and handing
the ballot in to the "Ballot box."
Book Fair 11/7-11/10
Folwell’s annual Scholastic Book Fair will be
up and running in the next couple of weeks. Proceeds from all book sales
will benefit our school media center. The kids LOVE this exciting week,
and we need volunteers to help with book sales!
Bingo Night 11/10
Come celebrate the final night of the Book Fair
with Bingo Night, from 5:30 pm- 7:30 pm! In order to make this big event
a success, we need families to help in the kitchen, meal ticket sales and
clean-up afterward. This event is particularly special because everyone
wins a prize, regardless of whether they win a Bingo. Please also
consider donating new or gently used items for Bingo Prizes. Prizes can
be delivered to a donation bin outside the school office.
Morning Movers 11/14/2016- 3/30/2017
Grab your sneakers!! Morning movers is BACK!
Morning Movers will run 8:40 am-9:00 am, Monday through
Friday. November 14- March 30, 2017.
Morning Movers is a FREE event sponsored by
the PTSA to help get kids exercise, movement and fun before school
starts. Studies have shown that physical activity can improve
concentration, mental alertness and overall academic performance. Since
starting this program last year, Folwell saw a huge improvement in academic
success and test scores.
Exercises will be led by Mr. Smiley, our P.E.
teacher, as well as by community members, such as Zumba teachers from the RAC
and others.
We need parent volunteers to help encourage
participation and guide kids through the pre-planned exercises. Come join
the fun-- no athletic experience or fitness level needed!
Kids Build (11/15)
Folwell School is partnering with North Central States Regional Council of Carpenter and several area construction contractors to bring Kids Build Workshop to Folwell School. This is an incredible new opportunity for Folwell School, and all students will get to participate at some point during the day on Tuesday, November 15.
Volunteer professional carpenters will work with students to apply classroom learning to a hands-on experience.
We need parent volunteers from each grade to help students through the building process. Sign-up by grade is listed on the Folwell Blog page, www.folwell.info. Please "Click to Volunteer." You are welcome to volunteer for as many slots as you would like!
Hearing and vision 11/17
Hearing and Vision screening for Folwell
School will occur on 11/ 17 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. We need a few
parent volunteers to help shuttle kids to and from their classrooms.
As always, so sign up for these events, please visit the Folwell Blog site www.folwell.info, and “Click to Volunteer.” If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
